About GPSC
Est. 1975.
GPSC is affiliated to both BWLA (British Weightlifting) & YNEPF (Yorkshire North East Powerlifting Federation - a branch of the British Powerlifting Federation) & our aim is to encourage a serious training atmosphere & look to develop our athletes into regular competitors at regional, national and eventually International Level.

We train Every evening (Mon-Fri) from 5.30pm and on Sunday's from 2.30pm-5pm at Gateshead International Stadium where we have access to very good training facilities, including 7 squat/bench racks, top quality bars & plates, machines & a full olympic standard running track.

We each pay a monthly membership to Gateashead council which allows us use of all the facilities (fees vary depending on age & background).

We have a history of producing top quality lifters, who all start from humble beginnings.

We don't charge club membership fee's however, to become a member you must first pay to become a member of British Powerlifting and/or British Weightlifting, this ensures you are covered with their liability insurances.

We have been around since the 70's and were previously known as Gateshead Stadium Powerlifting, however we have recently rebranded and reformed as Gateshead Stadium Powersports club in an effort to incorporate & promote all types of strength training.

The fact that we have been an established club since 1975 speaks for itself, with many clubs popping up all around the country only to dissolve as quick as they came to be, GPSC has stood the test of time, producing numerous world, european, national & regional champions in not only Powerlifting & weightlfting but in various athletic events such as shot put & triple jump.

If you want to find a place to better yourself, then GPSC is absolutely the place to be. Become a part of our prestigious history.
